Kerala Prawn Moilee With Coco Amino

Prawn Moilee is a delicately spiced coconut milk curry that's popular in Kerala. The addition of Balion’s Coco Amino Original adds a hint of sweetness and depth to the creamy curry.

Ingredients:

  • 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
  • 2 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tablespoon Balion’s Coco Amino Original
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions:

Heat coconut oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.

Add curry leaves and green chilies, followed by sliced onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the onions turn soft and translucent.

Stir in turmeric powder, ground coriander, and black pepper. Cook for 2 minutes.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften and the oil begins to separate from the mixture.

Add the prawns to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes until they start to turn pink.

Pour in the coconut milk and Balion’s Coco Amino Original, and gently simmer the curry for 5-7 minutes until the prawns are cooked through and the sauce thickens.

Adjust seasoning with salt if needed, and garnish with fresh cilantro. Serve hot with steamed rice or appam.
